The French Press Eau Claire

"My wife and I have been coming here for years, it is sad to see that the food has declined over the last couple years. Even today, we went in and my wife got a brisket hash with eggs and it was lacking pretty much any brisket. Even my breakfast sandwich was mostly bread and cheese, not much egg and a small sausage patty. It feels like French Press has been cutting corners in the last year across the board with food they offer, even though they charge the same but offer less. I still enjoy French Press for their coffee and atmosphere, but I wouldn't recommend getting food here."

"I ordered the brisket hash and a latte. Hash came absolutely smothered in ketchup. It was disgusting. I don't know who likes ketchup on their eggs, but I imagine the same person likes sand in their milk and crayons on a pizza. It was real gross. All I could taste was sweet, sweet ketchup. And! They didn't even put in the drink order, so I had to go remind them, and subsequently, drinks didn't come until the food was almost gone. (Yes, I ate it: I paid for it, I'm not going to throw it out, though someone sure should have)"

"Me and my husband stopped today to grab coffee. We both got an Iced Vietnamese Coffee. They were terrible. There is zero coffee flavor. It tatsed like Holiday or Casey's gas station iced vanilla coffee. Will not be back for coffee. The atmosphere is great. Minus the very chaotic menu on the wall. The drinks menu is an afterthought tucked on the left wall. You have to grab a menu to have any idea what anything is. The staff is super nice. The cafe is cute and looks inviting. I hope the coffee improves."

"Such a cute place! Love the laid back atmosphere! It’s a bit of a self service restaurant in that you order first, choose a table, grab your own utensils, sauces (ketchup, jam, etc), and water. They give you a number to bring with you to your table and they will bring out your food. If you order any drinks they will make it and call out the drink order for you to pick up. Their menu is fairly large and has a very unique variety. If we lived closer this would definitely become one of our go to spots!"

"I can't wait to go back! I live an hour away, but when I was in town I purposely got take-out from here because I wanted to try the food. The Normandy is a tasty sandwich, even boxed up and eaten later! I went back an hour later for coffee. I tried the salted pumpkin caramel cold brew and....OMG! YUM! The 2 employees encouraged me to try it and told me it wasn't too sweet. Best cold brew I've had! I'm so glad I tried it!! The only thing I'd change, is more open hours haha!"
